Answers:
well well, you do have a question here. Sometimes I wonder myself why they have to have so many names. I guess Its Money is the bottom line, it you didnt make it different the people would be saying same old thing, ya know like when you hear then goin to the grocery, don't know what we're goin get, same old thing. seeee. well back to the proper way to dress a bed. A Duvet is a cover sewn just like a pillow case where if you have an old bed comforter you could slide it dow n in to the duvet cover an you would have a new bed dressing, now a bedspread, is on thing that goes onto the bed where you can tuck it under the pillows, it hangs to the floow, usually doesn't weigh very much. (Personally I like those better because the aren't so bulky and inside you sitll stay comfortable. good luck. May you have a beautiful bedroom. always remember if you work you deserve new things for the home.
Bed cover is just another name for a bedspread but a duvet cover is really different. Say you have a nice bedspread and don't want to toss it, maybe use it in winter etc., then buy a duvet cover it's like a big pillow case just put it over your bedspread and wa la, new cover. Much less expensive and how you dress your bed? Two sheets, two pillow cases, light blanket, (maybe) bedspread, as for the color, depends on the room color and most men like dark colors, that's good to.
I have a duvet cover that I use on my Down filled comforter. That keeps the feathers from poking thru and also reduces the number of trips my comforter takes to the drycleaner, since a duvet can be thrown in the washer easily. Bedcover or Bedspread is simply a thin "blanket" that you put on over your regular blanket to make the bed look "finished". You can use any color that makes you happy! It is best to wash all bedding at least once a week. wash the duvet or bed cover in cold water, gentle cycle, and dry on low heat.
A bedspread should be totally removed before you use the bed, as it will protect the bed sheets from dust. The color will not hide the dirt. If light it will show dirt, if dark it will show dust.
If you get a washable one keeping it clean won't be costly.
The difference between a duvet and a bedspread is simple: Duvet is a French term used to describe the 2 sheets sewn together to protect the wool or feather comforter from getting soiled. It usually has, either a zipper or buttons at one end to introduce the comforter which gets removed to wash the duvet.
