Painting the livingroom & entrance way. Can you help choose a color?!?

Question:I'm not so great at design and I need your help!
Check out my avatar for pictures.
What color would you paint this room?
Planning on downsizing that big ole tv..keeping the couches and adding stuff on after the paint and some fixins.
I like the color brown..like a cardboard color..but Ive heard that will make it to bland with the tan couches. Needs to match my woodburning stove wall..which is glazed brick. The stairs I will be adding bebur (sp?!) and the floors will be getting oak wood on the lighter side.
One more thing this room leads in from entrance way. Thats a whole other story! But I need to covor those windows and have the paint match or go with the living room!

So can you help me?!
Hope so THANKS!

Answers:
Brick Wall and Tan Couch. A good compliment would be green. Like a sage green, not a leaf green. The new soft brown/greens are a trend that will likely stay around for a while.

This would also look great with light wood floors and the carpeting on your stairs.

wow ! on my pc, yopur pic is about a quarter inch big so i really can't see whats going on too much. i like your idea of brown on the wallls, in one room, i have 'paper bag' brown walls, the slip covers on the sofa are a kind of dark ebony, the trim and wood work and ceiling is white. the floors are oak laminate. i have 'pops' of color in the form of that retro orange: art glass, pillows, in a lamp, etc. window treatments are a soft ivory with a subtle print. i love this combo..

in another room, i have blue/grey walls and ceiling, slightly darker blue/grey wood work and trim, and CHOCOLATE window curtains. dark cherry floors. the bed is wood and painted the same color as the other wood trim. the nighstands are dark wood like the floors. believe it or not, i've seen a lot of chocolate and blue and chocolate and deep pink in decorating mags and i like it a lot..,..

good luck.
I have one thing that you might try for colour choice, find a piece of fabric you really like our look in your closet and see what catches your eye, then go down to the paint store and pick colours that come pretty close. You can then slide your favourite up or down to pick the right shade. Remember that all the colours on the paint chart are in the same family. You could also try out on of the paint help centers at Canadian Tire or I think Benjamin Moore has one too. You put the photo in and can try out different looks. But what ever you do make sure that you look a the paint chips out side in the daylight.
I have a warm brown on my living room and entrace room and dinning room walls. I also have wood floors. I love the color and it goes with anything. I will gladly show you some pictures of my rooms if you want to see what it looks like and how it flows into the next room. Email me if you like.
