Heck with it, be different and paint after! Don't use drop clothes either. Just KIDDING, paint before...it's faster, easier and risk free. It also saves on drop clothes.

I would say before. You can do touchups after the new carpet is down.
Before is better. If you are wanting to match up paint to your carpet then I suggest get your carpet and make sure it's all covered with plastic before painting.

depends what you want.. i would do it before.. but some people just put sheets and plastic down on the floor when they have carpets so the paint just goes on them, but of course sometimes there are accidents! good luck =)
My husband's family own a flooring store, and I've been helping out for about the past 8 months. Most, if not all of our customers paint first, in fact it's what we ask them to do. Think about it, new carpet...wet paint.
Unless you want to get paint all over the carpet i would paint first
