Throw pillows serve little function outside of decorative so they are tossed about the decor routinely to remove them from areas as the area is needed for use. The throwing of the pillow is easy and their size usually means that they don't require a lot of space and thus will probably be tossed around routinely. Other pillows, like floor cushions/ couch cushions/ bed pillows, usually take up a lot of space and are not so easily distributed throughout the house, but my guess is that you knew all of this and thought you'd be funny...
Because you can throw it without hurting people and without their thinking you are being rude.
