Question:I have only had gas ranges before, I'm not fimiliar with any electric brands or models.Even the brands to stay away from, please. I would like to hear from those with personal experience.

Stay away from Kenmore is my suggestion. We purchased a brand new range from them and a week after the warranty went out, it went bust. Same with the refrigerator.
GE typically makes the most reliable ranges.
I like the new sears kenmore electric range with the smooth top. Easy to clean and has a good warrenty too. You can always google for this info too. Good luck to you.
