Can i install a window a/c unit sideways? As in the unit sitting on one of its sides instead of the bottom?

I wouldn't recommend it. Window air conditioning units have water that builds up in a 'tank', and that tank needs to be horizontal. If you turn it sideways, the water will never build up, and the air conditioner won't work properly.

Nope. the oil in the compressor will drain out into the cooling coils, and the compressor will overheat. Plus the water prob.
