Radiator grilles and convection radiators..is it OK to mix them?
Question:We have convection radiators. Is there any problem putting a radiator shelf over it - will this reduce the effectiveness of it?

a-slow down heat movement
b-get really hot
they work by pulling cool air thru the bottom , the heat causes the air movement
Radiators work in two ways, by radiating heat, (infra red) you can feel the rad a few feet in front, and by convection, (Warm air moving.) A shelf over the top will make very little difference to the total amount of heat given off into the room. Some people put a cover over the whole radiator so a shelf over the top is no big deal. I am sure you will not notice any difference. just dont put anything on the shelf that will be damaged by heat candles and flowers etc.
