Is it possible to take varnish/polish of wood?

Question:hi , i have a slant in my room which has wood on it but the decorator put the wrong color varnish when we wanted it transparent is there anyway to get it off?

There is a product called nitromors which is a very good paint and varnish remover used with steel wool it should take the varnish off
