Rent a steamer.
Try a wet sponge.
Get a scraper. Like, ummmm.. U know the kind that gets the ice off of ur car windshield..
Several options.
Best one. 'Dif' walpaper paste remover. Mix with warm water. Found at any hardware/home improvement store
When I bought this house all the walls in every room had wallpaper. Only thing I used was warm water and it all came off easy.
Most are water soluble. Try misting it with a sprayer, then wipe it off with a damp cloth. You will need to do it in sections, and avoid getting the paper cover on the sheetrock too wet. Also rinse your wiping rag often to get rid of the excess glue. Where it seems thick, you may be able to take a wide putty knife and gently scrape off excess residue, then wipe the remainder. Depending on the glue, you can experiment how long you need to let the mist sit on the glue before it makes it come loose.
Wash with soloution of Sugarsoap (from any DIY store) and then a clean water rinse. It will leave your walls perfectly primed for whatever you want to put on them.
Be lucky.
I own a paint company and do alot of stripping of wallpaper. All that you really need is a bucket of warm water with a squirt of dish soap and a really heavy sponge. The kind of sponge that you buy at Home Depot, a big one!! Wet the wall thoroughly, let it set wet for at least 10 minutes, go back and wet the wall again. Now take a plastic scraper and scrape it off the wall. Rinse the wall down . Let dry a day or two before you paint
A friend of mine had this problem--said she was told to mix liquid 1 part liquid fabric softener with 1 part water, put in spray bottle, spray on, let sit and wipe it off (not sure if with cloth, scraper or what) She used it and said it worked like a charm, AND
her room smelled good.
