Can metal shutters be painted?

Question:I'm trying to decide whether to replace my window shutters or just paint them. Has anyone painted metal shutters and with what type of paint?

Answers:
If they are in good shape and you like the style, then yes, paint them.
Prime first then use an exterior latex acrylic paint. Anybody that sells paint should have it.
Your paint retailer will be able to give you all the right stuff for your job (ie: painters tape, brushes, etc.)

Yes, they can be painted, and for much less money than replacing.

Rustoleum paint in a can.
If you want to paint them in place just wash them up to get rid of chalk/dirt and paint with any rustolium type paint. I hate to say it but when I bought may house I painted mine with regular house paint latex as I was gong to install new windows. I did on front. Well 5 yrs later the one that didn't get swapped on back house where the sun hits look fine.

Good luck LOST
