First apartment, what are the top necessities to have?
Question:I'll be moving very soon and everything in my apartment will be brand new. I'll first start off with the bed and bath necessites. What else should I look for?
Answers:
Here is a list of the bare neccesities you'll need when first moving in.
*Bedroom:
-Bed (of course) along with all the bedding that goes along with that. Fitters, sheets, pillow cases and blankets. And pillows of course!
-A night table, alarm clock and small lamp.
-Blinds/Curtains for privacy and to block out sunlight.
-Not sure about your closet space but think about storage.
*Kitchen:
-Get an inexpensive but nice (not cheap) dinnerware set, drinkware set, flatware set, some mugs for hot drinks and a serving set. Get it for atleast 8 people...trust me, you'll end up using it!
-Get basic baking/cooking tools. You'll need atleast one medium frying pan and one medium pot. Don't waste money on a million pots and pans.
-Get a whisk, measuring spoons, spatula, laddle, cutting board and atleast one good knife for cutting veggies and meat/poultry.
-The best thing to get for food prep and storage is the Pyrex 16 piece starter ste. It comes with measuring cup, mixing bowls, glass bakeware and containers, etc:

-Oven mits, apron, dish towels and a dish rack are must haves.
-You don't 100% need this item but I 100% recommend getting a George Forman grill. Its a God-send for easy healthy cooking (chicken, meat, fish, veggies, paninis, etc).
-A Brita or Pur filter is good to have. Trust me, you'll get sick of running out to buy bottled water! Plus its better for the enviroment.
-Also, get as many of the basic spices you commonly use.
General Items You'll Need:
-Iron and ironing board
-Hangers
-Vaccum
-TV and TV stand
-Towels and a bath mat
-Rags for dusting
-Cleaning supplies & laundry detergent
-Shopping cart for laundry and groceries

Your first apartment is so much fun! Congrats!
everything that you use in your old house or current house. but brand new versions. a tv or/and labtop.
i would go to thrift shops or junk stores and look some old vintage furniture. and sand and paint it anycolor you want. its way cheaper than going to the store and buy funiture. but i would get a small couch(not from thrift store)or an old couch that is sitting in the basement(i did this) and i covered the couch with new fabric that was the color or pattern i picked out, and it was like a brand new couch! plus you might need a comfy throw blanket for watching tv. deff. pots, pans, plates, ect. laundry stuff if you have a washer and dryer. fun pic of family or random photos. pillows for the couch-you can make those handmade if u dont see any pillows u like in the store, or buy em. food is a must! and decorations just to make your appartment fun!
hop i helped
goodluck

do it room by room and make a list
so start with bedroom: bed, dresser, storage (night tables) etc...then go to the next room
kitchen: pots, pans, eating utensils, baking dishes, microwave, plates etc...
a few towels big enough for either hair or body couple wash clothes. 2 sets of sheets. extra light bulbs extra toilet paper flash light and CHANGE THE LOCKS ON THE DOORS RIGHT AWAY! good luck and enjoy
I'm thinking kitchen.
Knives: One chef or santuko, one paring, and one serrated is all you need. Buy the best you can, they are sharper and more balanced and that means safer. Also one plastic cutting board for raw meat and a wood one for everything else - no glass.
Pots and Pans: Sets are usually cheaply made. One 12" fry pan, a 12" saute pan, a 4 qt sauce pan, and 8 qt stock pot will do everything you need. all metal handles on the pans can go from stove to oven.
Small appliances: Toaster ovens are great. Of course they make toast, but you can heat up or cook all kinds of things. Its better than a microwave. Much more efficient than the oven on your range, and faster.
Water: you may find you don't like the water where you are going. A filtration pitcher (Brita, PUR, etc) works well, and is cheaper than bottled. More environmentally friendly, too. (A lot of energy and thus pollution is made producing and even recycling all those bottles. Not to mention all the trucks that transport water to stores.)
bed and bath are important but you will need some basic cooking and cleaning supplies as well. ..if you are single you can get by with one or 2 pots and a skillet, dishtowels, laundry soap, dish soap, sponges, papertowels, windex, and dish soap, silverware, glasses, good luck
microwave, toaster, coffee maker (if you drink coffee), cooking pans, utensils, dinnerware, cleaning products, and lots lots more! there's so many other things, but for now that should do it! good luck & have fun!
People have provided you with some good ideas. Here's my recommendation though. Starting today, start noting each physical item that you use doing your regular activities. Then you can review your list after a week and pick the top priorities. For example, you might find that you spend most of your time on your computer, so you'll want to make sure you have a work surface and an internet connection nearby. That's a silly example but i think you get the point.
