Just got a new apartment and my landlord says she doe not want holes in the walls. How can I.....?
Question:How can hang my two paintings without holes?? is that possible??
Answers:
Sure -- there are a lot of nail-less options. Go to a home store (lowes / home depot) or a decorating store like paint & wallpaper place. Even Bed Bath & Beyond probably carry these things.
3M has a whole line of adhesive hooks that remove from the wall with the pull of a tab and leave no marks. There is a link below, you can print it and take to the store with you
Most tenants drive a very small finishing nail into wallboard (NOT plaster) to hang pictures in frames. Before they move out, they spackle the hole and it disappears.
If your paintings are light and unframed, poster putty might be the answer.
3M makes removable hooks to hang paintings. the hooks are supposed to be removable without marring the walls in any way.
there are other ways, but that is fastest, easiest, cheapest.
I don't know about your landlord, how does she expect you to decorate. If I were you I would use the smallest nail possible and hang them anyway. I'm sure she has stuff hanging on her own walls. She probably just dosen't want you to get carried away and have tons of big holes in the walls. Just make sure you spackle or use caulking to fill the holes in when you leave. Hope this helps. Good luck to ya.
3MM sells little square pieces of adhesive, two are enough for a small picture, four for a very large.
You can also use velcro or double sided stick tape, though I'm not sure you want to put either of those on the back of your frames.
You can find adhesive hangers at Lowes, Home depot, or Menard's .Good Luck
Here is what you do... hammer a smaller nail in the corner right where the ceiling joins the wall. Hook up a string to it that supports your paintings. Should you move out, just pull them out OR push them in flush and cover any visible holes or nail heads with matching paint. She will never see anything!
The thing here is psychological. She will be looking for nail holes in the walls because that's where almost all paintings are hung - but never where the wall joins the ceiling.
Looking at other comments here - although well meant, I would not trust the adhesive hangers. Over time they tend to rip off the paint if removed. That happened quite a few times to me! Then the whole wall has to be repainted.
No, not really. I think the landlord doesnt want bigger holes in the walls other than those made by nails to hang pictures up. When you move on you could always cover any small holes by polyfiller.
if you have a picture rail if not no hose
