Color Suggestions for Painting rooms...?
Question:Our landlords have decided that they'll paint each room in our house BEFORE we move in. Trouble is I don't know what to paint each room! The living room is staying the same, it's a medium tanish color. But the other rooms in the house are going to get a fresh coat of paint..once I can decide on colors. We don't have much furniture or accessories even. So what are somewhat safe colors to paint rooms? Or should I just pick what I like and work around that? ...I do know that our bedroom will be a carmel color to go with our bedspread.
Basically I have no idea what colors to paint the Kitchen (small), Bathroom (small), and two other bedrooms. Should I stick with soft greens and blues? In the kitchen - is peach too risky? Or mustard yellow? I was thinking of painting the kitchen a brown red but then thought it might be too overwhelming to the room - I'm not sure. Any advice would be great!
Answers:
First of all, I love the idea of peach in a kitchen. Peach is a warm tone, and at the same time it manages to be contemporary. It's never gone out of style!
Second of all, for the bathroom, it depends what feel you want in your bathroom (I know that sounds all hippy, but let me explain). If you want it to feel cozy I would go with a deep burgundy. If you want it to feel energizing, a nice yellow would be nice, or an aqua! Last but not least, if you want it to feel frilly, the conventional pink does the trick, but so does lilac, it's a sweet little twist!
Good luck, painting rooms is fun, but even better when you don't have to do it yourself!
To begin with, try to choose a color that will compliment your floor covering in each room. If the room is small stay with light colours. Ask for a statin finish in all rooms; with semi-gloss in bathrooms and perhaps kitchens, for washability. If you want to add colour to a small room (kitchen, bath) consider painting one wall an accent colour. Its O'k to change your mind later, just purchase good paint( get permission in writing) and redo when you get settled!
