What flooring is durable for entry, kitchen, living?
Question:I want to put new flooring in the kitchen/livingroom, but they are connected. This will also involve 2 entry doors. Should I use all the same flooring or try to merge 2 different types togther? Any suggestions that would be kid friendly but warm on the toes?
Answers:
You can easily "merge" two types of flooring in a connected area if there is a doorway for a starting/stopping point (a threshold, so to speak). For instance, you could have porcelain tile in the kitchen and wood or a laminate wood look alike (like Pergo) in the living room. Or, hard wood floors (warm on the toes) or porcelain tile throughout (sometimes a bit nippy).
The problem with products such as Pergo: they aren't water and spill friendly in the kitchen nor at entry doors considering rain or snow.
At the same time, the same flooring througout makes a space flow and seem larger. Have fun!
Pergo.
