I want to give my TV room an ocean, surfing, all around beachy feel. Any ideas?

Question:Posters? Items to hang? Colors? Just looking for some ideas. I'm not any kind of interior design guru and It's only about a 12X12 room... Thanks.

sand
they have "ENTIRE" wallpaper with HUGE themes, check out any wallpaper on line store
I think you need some teal walls, with a surfboard on the wall. word.
old surfboards on the wall are cool--also stripes tend to be beachy--get a pottery barn catalog and check out the pics for ideas
go to your favorite seafood place and catch some ideas from what they hang on their walls and color schemes as well.
Yankee Candles scent of "Sun and Sand"

the scent it gives off is awesome and dead on

that gets the smell down...
I would go w/sky blue walls and beachy type accessories like sea shells, maybe some cool rocks. A friend of mine used to have an ocean themed game room and she had a big huge net up on the wall w/all kinds of seashells, sand dollars, starfish and that type of thing tucked into all the folds. You could also get an aquarium and some real fish. A surf board would look pretty cool hanging on the wall too.
try these colors, white, light blue with a bit of darker blue, some sand like colors and a bit of yellow. Those are all light beach like colors. Maybe add some ocean life art work/posters of whales, dolphins, jelly fish etc. You can buy shells and sand at the hobby stores, put the sand and shells in a bowl on a table.
get a small aquarium and fil it with fishes!
there are these wallpapers available to fill your wall!!
you can get a deep blue one with waves on it!
that shud do
You could go with the Gidget movie look of light colored wood siding for the walls. This is very 50s, 60s beach house like. Many Florida homes have wooden interiors that reflect this "look".
When my son was about 4, we redid his room all nautical, and my favorite thing was hanging fish netting all on the walls toward the ceiling, and we strung in white Christmas lights (with green wire) throughout and hung starfish and different dried fish decorations all in it. It was gorgeous at night with all the lights off! I would also buy a seashore cd and play it while you're kickin' back relaxin'! ;)
light blue, green and sand colors.

Toss in some red or salmon coral as tabletop art, or on shelves with large shells for decorations.

hula girls (the bobble kind that yiou see on dashboards)

movie posters with beach themes such as:

or just colorful posters:

use a grass skirt as a table skirt.

bamboo instruments

Oh! and when painting your walls in whichever color you choose, bring that color paint up onto your ceilings, creating a border on your ceilings...that will make your walls appear taller.

hope this helps!
colors of nature are your best color bets. If you can achieve it go for the stressed wood look for your TV cabinet. You can get this by painting you wooden units a lime white water based color and sanding it back so that a part of the natural wood shows through.
For your video collection I was thinking of putting hooks oh let's say a foot apart; take old wooden planks that have been painted in the same lime white water based paint and sanded back to give them that destressed look, drill holes in them in all four corners, run a rope through them and attach the loose end of the rope to the hooks already in the wall; do about three tiers of shelves in this manner making sure to use anchors so the hooks don't come sliding out.
Perhaps you can add more of a nautical theme by taking some rope and putting it on the wall in sort of a design. Scatter some sea grass mats on the floor, scatter a few rocks and stones around the room and that should do it.
