Hobby Lobby is the best place for that kind of stuff.
IKEA, maybe Target
IKEA
Craigslist in your area. Just type in Craigslist into your search engine, then go over to the right of the page where you will find a list of locations.
Try Wal*Mart, Target, K-mart, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. I purchased 5 of the 30 inch high and 24 inch wide ones at Wal*Mart right before school started a couple years ago for $10 each. You can also check out some of the resale shops like Good Will, ARC and other thrift stores.
Go to a Thrift Store, they have lots of furniture there and for CHEAP, get a bookcase you like then take it home and re-sand it and re-paint to the color of your choice and I'm sure it'll look GREAT! Good luck! =) Or you might even find one at a yard sale, you can even bargain the price down =)
get one at a thrift shop and paint it white
I've found some really great bargians at yard sales, auctions, and the local salvation army type shops. If you are industrious, you can always respec it yourself by sanding and painting as someone else mentioned. If you just want no hassle, cheap, just get me through this semester type bookcase to hold the darn books - hit wally planet or TJ Maxx.
