How can I walk across my hardwood floors. Without making so much freakin noise!?

Question:I wake up my mom all the time. They're squeaking. Can I like spray something on them or something?

Answers:
I heard if you dust baby powder into the cracks it helps to stop the squeak.

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and tell them about your problem and they can help you...there is a silicon spray you can use that will keep them from sqeaking:)
Until then, tippy toe.
Good Luck!!
Squeaks in hardwood floors usually come from separation between the boards. If the floor is on the bottom level of the house, go to the basement and assess the position of the boards.

Bob Villa addressed this problem on "This Old House" a few years ago by placing nails in the flooring from below. Google his name and you might find the episode. You can always consult with a store that installs hardwood floors.
Stop stomping! I am a chronic stomper. I just had to step lighter.
It depends if you want a quick fix or a long-term one. The latter involves finding out WHY the floor boards are squeaking (old house, sagging floor, poor construction) and fixing it, which is RARELY easy). Try some of the answers above and if they don't work, mention to your mom how MUCH you'd like to fix the problem...and get a carpenter to come tell you what needs work!
They make a screw system for repairing squeaky floors. I dont remember what its called. But it consist of a special screw that has a break off point that you break off after you screw the boards down to the under flooring. That way you dont have screw head showing all over your floor. I think the major hardware stores carry it.
I have never heard of the baby powder thing, and I am a carpenter. I would try it. It won't hurt anything, unless your mom comes home to a floor full of powder. Make sure you clean up well.
try the baby powder thing. I just avoid the squeaky boards in my house
slippers, baby
I saw a TV program that addressed this issue and they said to use baby powder too.
go to a floor supply store. tell them your problem. there is a glue that will work. you have to drill a small hole in the spots were the floor squeeks, then with small needle isert the glue and enjoy. it works, i have used the glue several times myself. i'm an installer for wood floors. happy walking
