How should I paint my room if I want it to be punk-ish?
Question:Alright so my mom is letting me redo my bedroom.
I have absolutely no idea what to paint it. Right now it is a discusting pink put on 8 years ago.
Im looking for something fun, unique, and also punk styled.
Im completely clueless what to do. My bedroom is barn-shaped. Meaning there are two 4ft walls that are vertical (90 degrees to the floor and opposite eachother). and then the walls tilt inward diagonaly. and then there in a 4ft wide strip on top (the ceiling) that its completely horizontal, obviously.
The shape cuts down on a lot of options such as shelves and headboards (im getting a new bed frame as well).
Although there are many cons about the shape, im hoping someone will come up with a pro.
possibly something unique.
also it has to be bright becuase i can touch the ceiling standing flat-footed and i am 5'4" and im thinking dark colors will make the room seem smaller.
so anyways, think bright, fun, different, punk...
hit me with any ideas. im open minded

I would recommend a bright red! Your room sounds awesome and different and I think it would suit a bright red as it's not too dark and not TOO bright and girly. It's also a rather mature yet elegant colour which you can easily add to to create more character. Maybe get some skull and cross-bones stencils (or draw them) and spray a few of them on your walls in either black or white (either colour would look great).

Heh! I thought about this w/my kid, because he's punk and he had the perfect answer: "If I'm Punk, why would I CARE about painting my room?!" True! The real Punks...not the imitation ones today, were only living that way because they had no $...and so they lived in whatever situation they could afford. Unlike the Hippies, they did NOT see it as important to "decorate" or paint slogans or designs, except as it came to them, possibly. They would be content to be in a stark room, whatever color, with little or no art on the walls, sleeping on a mattress on the floor, or even the floor itself!
So, there really IS no "Punk" style! But if you insist...I'd go with something stark, like black (and no, dark colors do NOT make rooms look smaller, contrary to popular belief, just more depressing!) or white, with graffiti by you and friends, and some posters, like the Clash, Sex Pistols etc.
Keep things REALLY simple...bedsheets for curtains, anything you can find at thrift stores for blankets and pillows (just use new insides of pillows, so you don't catch something awful!).
Pretend you don't care about ANYTHING, looks-wise and go with it. Then you're truly Punk!

Maybe some halloween skulls and bones at a party store would be inexpensive for accessories.
