Hanging curtains on double glazed windows?
Question:My bedroom bay windows are being replaced with double glazing next week and I was wondering how do I re-hang the heavy curtains? At the moment they hang from a plastic track that is screwed into the wooden frame but will I be able able to screw into the plastic?
Please advise me how to get around this little problem. :(

I would be best if the track was remounted onto the ceiling of the bay.
you can buy spring loaded poles that squeeze into place or there are the stick on hooks made for this purpose xx
you could use tension rods. or put up woodwork around the window and attach to it.
its some years ago now but i remember having this dilema , i chose to ask the window fitters for thier advice they sent me for some plastic track from our local focus DIY store and fitted it for me , it only took them ten mins , maybe your fitters would oblige if you were generous with coffee and cake
I have blinds on mine and they have special screws to go into plastic frame. I am sure you will be able to get them from any diy or hardware shop. Not sure but would imagine you can do the same with heavyweight ones but a stronger fixing.
you can get plastic track (rail) things that you attch these little S-shaped hooks and then attack those to the curtain and then they have these strings at the side you pull to open and close the curtains. and they can be ATTACHED TO THE WALL just ABOVE THE WINDOW and it makes it look as if theres nothing holding the curtains up because they are behind the top.
it's something like this http://www.thepolescompany.co.uk/acatalo...
and i have got two bay windows and i used something pretty similar but i can't remember what kind exactly.. you can get shaped ones!
You should never drill into double glazing as this can cause a breakdown in the units. I have just had the same problem, what i did was, i used the same curtain track bought some new fittings that allowed it to be fastened on the ceining, hey presto great job
yes but you will have to use self tapping screws
