Peel and stick tile?
Question:Has anyone ever used peel and stick tile? Is it hard to apply? I am all girl and don't have alot of funds to fix up new home.
Answers:
yes it is very easy you just need a good cutter if you need to cut them, like a heavy duty snippers. I've been putting them in my laundry room in our basement, and it is so easy. If you floor slopes a little, put something heavy on them (like laundry soap) until they adhere to the floor. Make sure the floor is clean before you start applying them (i.e. wash and sweep it). Don't get most cheap ones as they tend to chip more, also they can scratch so be careful when moving furnature or appliances accross them.
We just put some in our new bathroom & it wasn't hard at all just remember to start in the middle & work your way out & if you get ones w/ a pattern make sure they match up. Some of the "peel & stick" can be a little pricey also. Good luck :)
It is an easy job. Make sure you apply the surface primer usually found by the tiles, it makes the bond stick very well so you won't have any edges popping up. On the backs of most tiles they have arrows pointing in which direction to lay them, and as said earlier, make sure you start in the middle of the room then work your way out to the walls. You will be able to cover the cut edges with the molding. I use a carpenter's knife to cut the tiles. If you have access to a chalk line, it does make the job easier to snap a line for your starting reference point and it makes for a nice straight installation. Good luck and have fun.
