Help with decorating new livingroom which colours to use?
Question:Hello
I bought a new hosue and need some colour ideas.
My livingroom has darkbrown/cherry colour laminate.
Wallcolour>2 sections upper part brownish cream, and bottom part darkbrown.
White molding.
So I bought a beautifull white leather sofa set. It also has cherrybrown wood.
So my question
What colour of floor carpet should i buy?
And coffetable I saw this nice glass coffetable,. the glass top stands on a bick white rock.
What other colours should I involve?
Thx
Answers:
leather and cherry suggest sophisticaton... so if you are looking for a sophisticated look you may pick any of the room colors for the carpet... white is great for that purpose but not very practical as it will need a lot of care... perhaps toned down cherry brown or beige or another brown can be suitable...
for accent colors like accessories and pillows... to keep the sophistication theme going on choose one or two of your favorie colors as a maximum... all reds are great with your cherry wood... like wine red as an example... with red you can use dark green for example if you want more than one color... if you don't like red you may go for green, voilet, or even some orange variations...
include more glass and metal items if sophistication is what you're looking for...
i hope i helped... good luck and enjoy your living room!
Hi, It depends on how you want to continue the color scheme. If you want to stay in the brown/red-brown with neutrasl (white) family, you could choose a rug that incorporates those colors as well as other tones in the family.
With the white base to the glass table however, I would not select a white carpet. Along with the white leather sofa it will be too much white in one area and will actually serve to make your lovely white leather sofa stand out less than if you had a color to set it off.
If you want to choose an accent color, you could have that be the main color,or just one of the colors in a rug - along with the brown-reds.
Accent colors that might look good might be dark greens (including plants), or something in the red to orange range.
Best of luck in your new space :)
I like the sounds of that coffee table, and I would suggest a rug that has the main colour similar to the brownish cream upper wall colour, so that it is light enough to contrast with the floors but not as light as the coffee table base. I think an area rug with a design, not sure if you like contemporary, transitional, traditional but the other colours in the pattern should be the other colours of the room and then I would introduce just tiny bit of a new colour which would be a light sage green or robins egg blue.
I also saw this rug and although it does not show what I just described, I think it is beautiful and seems like it might suit your space.
