Room theme?
Question:I need help thinking of a them for my room. I am painting my walls [and trimming]. I can get new bedding, a comfy chair [or a small couch], a new desk chair, a mirror, and a few accessories. I am 14 years old and going into 9th grade. I live in PA [America]. I have been called emo/scene/punk. Im not very sporty or preppy. Music is a very big part of my life. I am open to any suggestions. Thank you =]

hi... i have some few suggestions for you...
1. i agree with the ppl who answered before me that your theme is music ,aparantly, so try to put as many music related accessories and accents... a musical instrument, a clock with musical bachground, posters of your favorie bands with nice framings, even the bedding can be related to your theme or at least the throw pillows...
2. for color insperation go for your favorite colors... or you can for example be inspired by a color scheme from your favorite band's poster... distribute the same colors in the poster throughout your room... avoid choosing too many colors if you're not a fan of that... 3 matched colors can be enough.
3. for walls... i can some clues... use light colors if your room is small, and dark ones if it's big... but that's not a rule, always experiment colors before setteling for what you like best... try swatches and samples...
if the wall color you chose is neutral (like biege, gray, or white) then the trim better be colored... otherwise the trim can be the same color of walls with a different shade, or a neutral, or a different color...
4. dimmers are a great idea for lighting... you can have strong lighting for studying and normal activities, yet use dimmers to dim the light which can complement your theme... also use lamps for your desk... the lamp can be music related! if u want u can go for colored lights... just be carefull to choose the correct color that will match the painting or other stuff... cool colors are blue, green, voilet... warm colors are red, orange, yellow... like that!
5. whatever you do keep the harmony in colors and style...!

Make themes of music, buy music posters and post them around your room. Guitars...bands..etc.
You could do it like backstage at a concert, with posters, schedules, memorabilia from old 80s bands, and doors marked "STAGE ENTRANCE" or "NO ADMITTANCE". You could also buy stage lights at Ebay or other lights that look like stage lights and hang them on a wire grid on your ceiling like a fly system.
combine 2 or 3 themes. just 1 might be too much in 1 space, or just not interesting enough
