How can i find out what my 1950s oak barometer is worth?

Answers:
I like to go onto ebay and search for the same item, then look at completed auctions. That will at least give you an idea of what people are willing to pay for it.

Good previous answer. You can also take it to an auction house - try the net or yellow pages you wil be surprised how many there are. They will give you a valuation based on how much they would expect to get for it. You do not have to go ahead if you are not happy. If you put it into the auction put it at a reserve of the lowest estimate they give you. Good Luck
Go to a reputable auction house. Ring first and find out if they have a valuation day. Take your item along. They should inform you of the average prices such things fetch. Don't ask for an insurance valuation, as these prices are generally much higher than any amount that you would realise in a saleroom, or selling privately
