How do I get cig smell out of a trailer?
Question:I bought a 5th wheel trailer for cheap, but the people where smoking in it. I have spent hours washing the walls and ceiling, it is cleaner, not so yellow, but still smells. Any suggestions?
Answers:
Put about 1/4 cup lemon juice in about 8 cups of water. Put it in a spray bottle and spritz around the trailer every other day for a week. It works pretty well and is cheaper than buying the spray fresheners.
Cans and cans and cans of Febreeze. Febreeze actually does work pretty well. I don't know how bad your trailer is but you can try it. Good Luck :)
febreeze, maybe. Open all windows and get an oscolating fan. Good luck ;)
They make candles you burn to get rid of the smell, I would also Fabreze everything fabric, but, you will never get rid of the smell completely.
Sprinkle LOTS of baking soda on any upholstery (including mattresses) or carpet, I add ground cinammon & cloves to the baking soda before sprinkling it on. Allow to sit a few days & then vacuum thoroughly. Repeat if necessary. If odor is persistent you may want to enlist a professional steam cleaning service on the upholstery & carpeting. Wash any curtains or removable textiles in warm water and laundry detergent. Try rinsing the walls and windows and any other hard surface with a vinegar or lemon juice & water solution. Air fresheners may help disguise odor or eliminate surface odor but it is best to get any soft furnishings as clean as possible to neutralize smell.
An open bowl of vinegar works wonders. Just leave one (or more!) sit here and there, and close the place up for a few days so the vinegar stays focused on the area.
I know a trailer isn't as big, but... I sold my mom's mobile home, 1750 square feet, and she was a smoker. We washed the walls with PINESOL and we were going to recarpet but the new owners want to do wood floors. Padding can really hold the smell.
We painting all of the ceilings with a great water based primer sealer, but the new owners' painter went back over them with an OIL based paint. And over all of the wood paneled walls and cabinets.
We dumped the draperies, and scrubbed the kitchen floor and kitchen ceiling panels.
You have to do a lot to get rid of smoke smell. Just think what it does to one's lungs.
Anway, I'm visiting the mobile home next week and can see if the smell is finally gone.
paint helps or just use Frebreeze it works good on carpet
