We too have a bath remodel planned - what order of tasks?
Question:We are replacing the vanity, adding a linen closet/tower, and replacing floor tile. We DONT have the money to replace the shower (a separate stall) nor the tile around it's base.
We'd like to only tile up to the cabinet, but the existing cabinet sits above the floor, which I guess was the style in the 60's. A new cabinet will sit ON the floor. We'd like to leave the old tile, and just add new tile up to the place where the cabinet will sit.
We will put a marble or composite or granite counter top on, just now sure which yet. I think I'd like a one-piece top with sink, to avoid having a seam or grout to clean, as we get a lot of moisture here, close to the beach.
We have to move an existing light switch/gfi a few inches out to accomodate the linen cabinet, so we'll be moving the towel bars around.
Last, we'll be taking out one of those dangerous old built-in wall heaters.
In what order should we do this?

This is hard to get a picture of from the description, wouldn't pictures be nice.
I am not sure what you mean by above vs. on. I think you mean floating or suspended above vs. sitting on.
Think about this in terms of mess..
Tear out everything that you want out first...
I’m not clear on what type of tile you have.. If it is ceramic DO NOT put ceramic tile over anything but the properly prepared sub floor.. If it is self stick vinyl or linoleum tile that is down and you are putting over it, you can do it if all current flooring is adhered firmly.. HOWEVER, the issue is that over time if there is a pattern in the first layer of tile, as you walk on it the top tile will mould to that pattern and it will show up in the top layer to some degree.. This means a texture pattern not the color pattern.
Next, move the electrics.
now it is easier to lay the floor and then put in the vanity but if you do that and have to take up the floor then it is more difficult to cut the flooring under the kick plate of the vanity.. (its a pay me now or pay me later.. you choose)
After the floor and the vanity are in, have them come in with the countertop.. We did an under-mount sink on slab granite and it rocks (pardon the pun) no fuss no muss.. Next put i the vanity then hang the new mirror.. no you didn’t mention that but 9 times out of 10, after all that you have to have the new mirror to match all of the other stuff..
