My bedroom is very small but I want it to look bigger and more open..?

Question:I am a teenager girl and my room is pink. I have a lot of furniture and a lot of stuff but I want it to look more spacious.

Answers:
-get a twin sized bed
-paint the walls a light color, not hot pink but light pink
-get rid of a lot of your stuff
-put all of your clothes in a closet, no need for dressers
-get a small rug to define the area and to make it look like there is lots of floor space
-make your bed the focal point of your room, but don't put it in the center of a wall because that just makes the room look smaller.
-find smaller, more delicate pieces of furniture. no bunk beds, none of those puffy matresses. lean towards iron post beds and quilts
-make sure your room isn't cluttered, keep only the stuff you need

Paint with light colors. Leave the window uncovered...meaning no blinds and open curtains.
Mirrors help open a room up.sometimes too much stuff can make a room look congested and not big either. Keep your things in cute BINS.
paint one wall in your room a different color than the rest
Get lots of mirrors, it really makes a difference.
they make mirrored tile, glue those suckers over a whole wall and it will double the size of the room, visually of course..
Put large mirrors on the wall they make the room look twice as big
light colors and reorganize
i would get the self adhesive mirrors from homedepo and make a wall of mirrors!! thats what i did...i then got white christmas tree lights and put it around them. it looks sweet!!
Also use a lot of mirrors and keep it neat. Maybe a hanging plant in front of the window to draw the eye up.
Try to find a wall which you could center the head of your bed on. Believe it or not pushing it up in a corner makes the room look smaller. Either that or do it daybed style and put one of the sides centered on a wall. If you have the option use a bedframe that only has a headboard (no footboard) or even just put the boxspring and mattress straight on the floor and use some kind of decorative fabric on the wall for a "headboard". Hang curtians starting at the ceiling rather than just at the top of the windows, it will make the ceiling look a lot higher. It's hard to give more advice than that without knowing all the specific pieces of furniture that you have, but even just those two tips will make a difference. Good luck and have fun!
well i have a master room but my last house it was a small room and i had a large bed and a desk and chairs and other big things so i got the smallest bed a twin and that made it look larger by the bed and i took some of my furniture out like the stuff that i didnt use and i put small decorations in there and the money i spent was just on my bed

good luck
kay, im also a teenage girl with an extremely small room. mine is limmegreen, but the best colour to paint a room to make it look bigger is white, (dull, i know). the best thing to do is to remove your blinds or keep them open in the daytime, and reorganize your furniture so its closer together, then there is more floorspace making it seem more open. also if you put artwork or pictures you like (posters of celeb crushes:) ) it takes alot of attention away from the floor and to the walls, usually making it seem more open. Good luck<3
Have a good clear out. Be ruthless! Anything that you don't wear very often, don't use very ofter - take down the charity shop or chuck in the bin. Get yourself some nice storage boxes, you can get really nice girly material ones. Also, if you have the time and money, you could paint your room a cream colour which would make it look lighter and give the appearance that it's bigger. If you have heavy curtains you could ditch them and get some neutral coloured blinds or even voile. But obv this all depends on budget. Just clearing everything out will prob make a big difference : )
I had the tiniest room in the house when I was a teenager.

First, clear out your clutter. Cut your furniture down to a bed, a chest/dresser, someplace to put your books and a nightstand. If you can get a cheap wood cabinet with closing doors, you can paint it the same color as your wall. It doesn't take up a lot of visual space then, but still contains your books and stuff. Organize your closet, hang as much as you can so you can use one or two drawers in the chest/dresser for stuff and use boxes to contain your craft supplies. Box like things together if at all possible.

Painting- have some color on the wall and then use white curtains. Not a dark color, but where you can immediately tell that it is pink. I noticed on some of the HGTV shows that bright color makes a room look just as large as white and is much more appealing. I personally prefer cape cod curtains in the bedroom, but it may not be your style.

When I was a teenager, I had very little clutter because I got rid of stuff when it didn't fit, and hobbies when I was no longer keenly interested in. Try to be lean in your stuff and you won't have a lot of problem with clutter later on. Unfortunately, I eventually learned my parent's packrattery, but working hard on getting rid of stuff again!
I have the same problem with my room! Try putting up some mirrors that suit your style, add some flowers to your window cill to bring the outdoor space inside, tie back the curtains or buy some lighter material so this creates more space, add some more light fittings in the ceiling (those small flat circular ones) and take down all the wall hangings or posters you have up. Even a quick clear up will help, try buying some extra storage like shelves. If you're going to re-decorate then make the wall colour lighter since that always works- hope it helps! :-)
these r all good answers but start lst in getting all u'r stuff organized.. yeah.. i said organized.. something i know teens don't do.. but get large bins/baskets & u can get colored ones & u can stick them in u'r closet for all u'r shoes in one... belts etc.. inanthr...books... etc.etc..etc...

Then can u take any of u'r furniture & top it onto anther? Like bookcase ontop of a desk or dresser... that will shrink u'r furniture , if u can't... can u get rid of jst one OR put u'r dresser in the closet or something like that.

Next u stated that u'r walls r pink... that's nice. So can u PAINT u'r furniture? I'm sure u'r furniture is proably dark color or wood .. if u could paint it white or bright color.. that will give u'r room the illusion of larger. Putting the head of u'r bed angled in the corner does give the illusion of u'r room being bigger. Put a nite stand & lamp behind it. & if u have a headboard, r u allow to take it off? that will cut the illusion down to looking larger.

Don't clutter u'r walls w/ stuff.. Keep it uniformed.. on the walls. like several pixs/frames together not spread out all over the walls.

I hope that gave u some ideas in helping to make u'r room seem larger. Stick w/ brighter colors.. & that will help.

B Creative & have fun~
In a small room, painting the walls white or off white (or even a very light shade of pink) makes the area look as large as possible. Also, the less furniture in a room, the more open space you have to enjoy. In addition, try to cut back on the clutter. I use baskets and bins on the bookshelves in my bedroom to store (and hide) the mess. I hope this helps. Good luck!
