How much does a new bathroom cost?
Question:I want to give my bathroom a complete makeover from top to bottom including floor & wall tiling, getting a new shower and replacing the whole suite.. How much will this cost? can anyone tell me who I could get to do it? I am in Glasgow
Answers:
you will need a plumber and builder and decorator.
how much depends on if you want flash or basic.
you could get a new 3 piece of £200, tiles for £5 square metre, but it wont look special if thats what you after.
other end of scale you could spend £300 on shower, £200 shower pump, £200 matching sink and bath taps, £200 toilet, £20 square metre for tiles, £200 under floor heating. plus about £500 to fit all of this, then there is the fitting of mirrors, bog roll holders, paint and on it goes.
look at screwfix.com for the kits
on a min start from £1000 and there on in the sky is the limit!
local plumbers, or get references from friends about who to di it!
We just had ours done, and it cost loads more than we thought. Bought suite of ebay. bought flooring cheap and chose tiles for ourselves and the decorator and plumber costs were way more than we hoped to pay at the end of it all. Nearly £1500 all up..you can get it done cheaper I am sure..and you can buy a suite from B&Q and Homebase for around £400. Do a lot of homework on your plumbers and get at least 5 quotes!!
Impossible to answer - you have no set idea of what you want to use - so how can we tell you how much - we could say £400 but your idea might be solid gold taps and all the glitzy junk to go with it - you won't get that for £400 will you - price up what you want and when you have a total, roughly double it to include the fitters etc
How long is a piece of string? Maybe a person in Scotland could help. What about somebody from John O' Groats?
This is are US estimates, so you can click on them to get a general idea. It really depends on how upscale you want to go. A bath retailer also would have vignettes to view and could work up some cost estimates.
Your newspaper or phone book should give you some contractors to get bids from when you decide to go ahead.
I saw a bathroom done on TV last night for two grand and it wasn't half bad. They had all of the plumbing in place however. Our bathroom cost eight grand but that was moving it from downstairs to the second smallest bedroom and re-plumbing the house to that effect, also we treated ourselves to an 80s classic, the spa corner bath and a powerful power shower.
If you are looking at the budget end you can pick a complete suite up from B@Q for as little as £180. Installation should cost no more than £250, shop around your local plumbers for a quote after that you just have to decorate.Tiles can be found from £2 a square meter on EBAY. Hope this helps. If you are looking for a complete service B&Q do a full instalation and supply including the decorating,as to cost it depends what you want to achieve but I would estimate from £1500 depending on the size of the room and the quality of fittings you want.
It is impossible to give an accurate estimate. Are you wanting top of the line materials, or will you settle for something a little less expensive. Also, how large is the room? We redid our guest bathroom. It is tiny so it really wasn't so expensive. We went with nice fixtures (faucet, light, etc) but went with a little less expensive vanity. It looks great, and we spent under 1000 dollars. However, my husband is in upper management for Lowes, so we used his discount, and he did all the work himself.
I would guess you are looking at a pretty expensive renovation but bathroom renovations always pay off in the long run! It will surely increase your home's value! Good luck!
I did my bathroom and shower for around £3000. I got my bath, toilet, sink and taps from B&Q on special offer. My shower tray, door and shower from ebay which was great quality and fast delivery time. Tiles I got from tops tiles. I think if you've get a good plumber and tiler your bathroom will look great, you don't have to spend loads.
From £750 to to what ever you want to pay .
