Microfiber sofa or twill sofa?
Question:We are looking into buying a new sofa but not a leather one (we can't afford it). So, our next two choices are microfiber or twill.
Which one is more durable?
Also, which one does better with cats?
Any experience on this?
Thanks.

I have a microfiber in my living room and a twill in the family room. I have two cats. If my experience counts MICROFIBER is the way to go. To get cat hair off of twill you have to use a wet sponge. A vac doesn't work.
Well, I have a feeling twill would be more durable under normal conditions, but with cats I think microfiber would be the better choice. Try to get it in a darker color, though. It won't get as dingy looking that way.
Look a microfibre sofa implifies its inner filling and not the exterior finish. when u say u want a microfiber sofa it means that u want a sofa which is filled with microfiber ( Loose & soft cotton like filaments made of polyester ) for that softer feel.
Now to answer your other part of the question. If u cant afford a leather sofa ,buy a one with PVC ( artificial leather ) or Rexine.
insist on a darker color, scratchresistant & washable pvc from the store u buy it from. thats the best solution against cats for an upholstery for your sofa. anyting else..?
I'd say definately go with the microfiber...not only will the twill get dirtier faster, it gets pulls. Microfiber if much more user friendly. It will also hold its shape better (think how the knees on jeans get baggy when you wear them.)
Also, although a kind of microfiber may well be used inside of the sofa for the stuffing, it is certainly also a fabric covering choice. It is most popularly used because of its easy cleanability..use a soft rag and a little mildly soapy water to get out most stains, and spills should just blot right up.
Microfiber is the outside of the sofa and it is very easy to clean especially if you have it treated before delivery. I have a microfiber sectional and we use it as a dining area and spills come up easily.
