How can I cover nasty/ugly carpet in a rental home?
Question:I am renting a house and I hate the color of the carpet and the fact that it is not as clean as I would like. The carpet has been professionally cleaned and still has some stains. What can I do to cover the whole carpet (living room and bedrooms) since I can't replace it?
Answers:
You can use area or throw rugs but I'd get some carpet remnants and cut them to fit your rooms. You can pick up some great pieces at carpet stores and showrooms. They cost about the same as nicer throw rugs and then you won't have the older icky carpet showing at the edges and they won't roll up and get tripped over. In fact, they are really easy to do too! Just use a sharp blade knife and cut them along the walls, then use a couple nails with big flat heads and just pound them into the floor like one in each corner and in the middle length of the wall right on top of the old carpet. You won't need a lot, just a few to hold it in place. Then when you move, you can take them with you.
With area rugs
Cover the stains with rugs that u think match the floor, walls, curtains, etc.
Area rug
area rug will not help much..
what I would do if you really like the place is make a deal with the landlord and get some new carpet put in...2 bedrooms and l.r. maybe a 1000 bucks with some nice carpet.
if he has had it cleaned it is probably time for a change and if you get the carpet down he could take some off the rent.
just a thought....
