Should I have a housse stained or painted?

Question:I know someone who is wondering which is better, to get a house stained or painted.

Answers:
It is best to use the same material which is on the surface now. If it was stained you are best using stain. Paint is acceptable, however if the building was originally painted, stain will not adhere properly; resulting in a serious problem

Painting is a lot easier than attempting to match stain evenly. I hope you are not trying to stain it yourself.

Stained now, then stain

Paint now, then paint
Painting lasts far longer. Staining is not very suitable. Problem comes when you want to re-do colour. Stain gets absorbs by wood, and you need heaps. Paint goes on surface. Far easier, and probably less costly, and more durable.
