Cover an old horsehair wall that has old wallpaper and damage beneath?

Question:I want to get rid of the ugly wallpaper in my kitchen before selling my house but the wallpaper is coming off in places and has cracks in the horsehair beneath it. I am afraid that the old wallpaper is all that is holding the plaster together in some places and if I remove it, I will create major holes in the wall beneath! Can I re-paste the wallpaper and paint over it? Help!

Answers:
Get hold of a syringe and as large a needle as you can, then inject wallpaper paste behind the loose paper, allow to dry thoroughly and then over paint.

I would give it a try...I've painted over wallpaper before, but if it looks loose, you're going to have a real mess. The paint may even make it wet and cause it to come down even more. If that happens, you may have to spend a bit of money and buy something to recover the walls, maybe some wainscotting or sheetrock over the whole mess.
