Does anyone have experience with frieze carpeting?

Question:I am going to replace the worn out Berber carpet in my family room. This is the most used room in my house, so I need something casual looking, but able to withstand a lot of abuse. I don't have pets to worry about though. I have been looking at a Karastan frieze carpet and they tell me it is tough, won't show the seams, and will withstand a lot of traffic. This frieze reminds me of the old shag, but the pile is not that high. Does anyone have this type of carpet in their home--what is your experience? Thanks.

Answers:
We replaced our old berber carpet with frieze carpet. I thought it looked soft. We have had it since March and love it. It has held up very well...especially considering we bought a very cheap brand. I love that it doesn't ever look dirty. Our berber carpet would show EVERYTHING.

We bought some about a year ago - replaced some Berber. They told us the same thing. That is was sturdy and the seams would not show. Reminds me of a "short shag". Karastan is a good brand of carpet. I think it is probably a better quality thanwhat we bought. We haven't had any problems - 2 cats but the kids are grown! Oh, and they told us berber was on it way out and frieze was the latest thing.
