Need suggestions.redoing house and need 6 inch molding to cover gap between old paneling and ceiling....

Question:need a cheap way. priced molding and for 80 feet it's gonna be 80-100 dollars. way out of my budget.

Answers:
You could install 1 x 6's and a quarter round or other 1" molding.

We did that as baseboards in a home.

If you are going to do something, do it right. Otherwise yu won't be happy with it, I know. What I would do is to buy enough of the trim for one wall at a time as you can afford it. It may take a while to complete the room it it's entirety, but it can get done. Paint is usually a way to cover up the old{presumably} drywall underneath, but at 20-25 dollars a gallon, that isn't inexpensive either-- cost would pay for 1/4th of the real molding need. If open studs show in the gap, trim some cardboard to size, attach with staples to cover, and then buy good stuff as you can. Just a thought!!
