How do you sound proof a basement room from loud noise from floor above?

Question:i have a 4 month old son and his room is right below a playroom for 16 month old. she loves to drop things on the floor and it echos down into his room and wakes him up daily. is there an inexpesive way to sound proof his room to wear it is not as loud.

Answers:
Go to your local lowes and get some 1 1/2" playroom foam, it interlocks together and makes an excellent sound barrier.

Soundproofing is REALLY difficult and expensive. It just is. There are solutions out there but good luck getting it cheap.
If it isn't already, carpeting would be a great sound insulator. I have found tile or hardwood to be SO noisy to the downstairs level. Maybe you could try an area rug with some cheap padding underneath?
empty egg cartons make a great sound buffer.
