Where can I buy inexpensive items to decorate my dorm room?

Question:I'm trying to decorate my dorm room with rugs, plants, pictures, pillows etc and need to find a place that is inexpensive. I've already looked at pottery barn and urban outfitters and they're too expensive and I didn't really like what they had to offer. thanks

Answers:
Pier 1 Imports is amazing. Their prices aren't too bad, and they have tons of stuff to decorate with. They usually have a student discount offered at the end of July through September :)

try ross
Target - great prices, lots of options
Bed bath and beyond - lots, more expensive

Get creative with a craft store and local (plant) nursery
Dollar tree, Dollar General, Big Lot, Shopko, or WalMart. I went to all of these places when I was going to college. Stay away from the malls and such. They're too expensive and the places I listed above are just as good, especially Big Lot. Good Luck at school!
Yard sales are a real bargain.

look for items for sale in the ads of the newspaper

go to second hand stores like thrift stores to find items

watch the sunday paper for sale ads from dept. stores.

call up friends, relatives and neighbors and ask if they have anything you might be able to borrow for the year.
grandmas and aunts really come in handy for such rescues. good luck!
most dorm rooms i've seen were decorated with beer cans and whiskey bottles strewn about and the occasional spot of vomit in the carpet and bedding.
You must try IKEA! the website doesn't have as big of a selections as the store. Also Target and Pier 1 Imports have good prices and nice stuff.
Target, Walmart, and Bed, Bath and Beyond. Also Lowe's and Home depot. Use 3m poster tape and hooks to hang things on the wall. Be sure to follow directions and wipe the wall with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel or tissue first.
