Plumber recommends placing the hot and cold supply lines about 24" above the washing mach. WHY?

Question:A kitchen remodeling will include a laundry area. In the plumbing plan, the plumber recommends extending the hot and cold supply lines about 24" above the connections to the washing machine. Why?

Answers:
it is to eliminate the" hammering" effect. the extension Will maintain better water flow and reduce the vibrations caused by "air locking"

probably to make access easier for when you have to shut the water off. This way you don't have to pull the machine out to do so.
So they are high enough to turn off water incase the hose springs a leak or you need to get to the valves fast. If you have a leak you wouldn't want to fluid your home or garage.
i dont see why he recomends 24'' ABOVE machine, usualy they would be at the side of the machine or between the washer and dryer, if thats not possible then some where behind the machine in easy reach for u to be able to turn water off in an emegency
Assuming you are using a licensed plumber, I'd trust his judgment. They've seen everything and usually try to set things up to prevent you from having a problem.
