Why would a window sill that has been stripped to the wood & repainted with non-lead paint test positive?

Question:It doesn't make sense. My husband heat stripped and refinished the surfaces and the sills are coming back as positive. We did get new windows and while the old windows were not lead, the outside framing that was covered is. Could just contact with lead paint cause other paints to test positive?

Answers:
The framing most likely absorbed lead over the years. There is probably no hazard to it however, unless you eat the wood itself which is most unlikely.
