I want to replace my floors. What are some good square footage prices of tile, hardwood, carpet, etc?

Question:I want it to look nice - but not cost a million dollars. Who has the best prices, which material would be most cost-efffective and look great?

Answers:
depends on what type of carpet or hardwood you get. if you are wanting something thats last and adds value to your home plus good looks you'll try and find some pre-finished hardwood look for something that is at least three quarters inch thick.you can find so many different colors and widths. a lot start for around $1.99 sq ft....and up depends on the grade of flooring you buy.carpet is realativity the smae cost but cheap carpet doesn't last long. i just wouldn't put hardwood in a bathroom. would tile it. other than that hardwood through out the house.labor for installing hardwood would probably start around $2.oo a sq ft.just depends on your area.

carpet and laminate are about the same if you include labor
laminate will last longer and look better, but it is not soft on the feet
tile is more expensive, but it last forever and never wears, you can get it for really cheap, but the tile man makes all the difference, if it is not professionally laid, it looks terrible.

Hardwoods are the most expensive, but they are beautiful and you really can tell the difference between laminate and the real thing
