Portable In-room air conditioner problems -?
Question:We have cathedral ceilings and no windows in our bedroom. We installed an in-room portable by running the venting throught the wall, over the hallway and out to the outside, about a 10 feet span. The first night the unit worked great, but we have to get a plug installed for it, we have a 14amp extension cord. The unit is not cooling, just blowing and it is about 90 degrees in the room. The extension cord does feel hot to the touch.
Any ideas why the unit is not doing the job? It says in the manual if the room is too hot the compressor will not turn on.
Answers:
sounds like the AC unit is broken, take the front off of it and look at the coils, the problem you have is you vented the heat from the condensor but the inside cold piece, the evaporator takes moisture out of the air, where is that going?> might be building up in the unit and causing a shut down,
the room can never be too hot for a AC unit to come on
