Help i need decorating advice!?

Question:Im decorating the bedroom with one wall covered in a black and white design as a feature wall but im struggling to decide on a good colour for the remaining walls. has anyone any ideas?

Answers:
keep it simple to make the feature wall stand out, i would think white or a soft duck egg blue but if you start introducing colour it limits the bedding you can use whereas white means that you can buy any bedding you fancy, keep the curtains neutral as well or just put wooden blinds up.

Girl... use your favorite color with black and white... it's not like your going to hate your fave color??
I'd keep it white - otherwise it will detract from the feature wall and become too fussy. Then I'd bring colour in with the soft furnishings, e.g. a srtiking coloured bed spread/curtains/cushions etc.
a light ginger or beige would go well with black and white.
a beigey brown would look nice, or a light duck egg. As long as you keep the tone light you could use plenty of different colours but I think either of those two would look best x
what about i light pink?
if you want the black n white wall to be a real feature you need to tone everything else down. id go for a stone colour.
i have a very similar scheme in my own bedroom, i have designer black on black wallpaper on one wall (behind my bed) the other walls and ceiling are in a pale limestone colour. ive then added some modern bold black n white print curtains (mainly black) and the bedding is netrual with loadsa black, cream and lilac scatter cushions and throws (using layers on the bed is a real focal.. makes the room look hotel chic). you will need another accent colour to really bring the room to life, ive used a soft lilac as the room already had a pale lilac carpet when i moved in so i incorporated it into the scheme and it also adds an air of femininity without putting my man off! lol

accent colours that go well with black n white schemes are:
orange
red
chocolate brown
baby blue and deep turquoise
purples & lilacs

or use different tones of black, grey and white-stone colours to keep it more of a modern loft look, dont forget to add textures such as throws, cushions and dont be affraid to use different patterns in black n white together, for a more individual look.

look on ebay. you can find some real bargains on there, just search for black or black n white in homes and gardens section. you might find something you love to put in the room.

also look online at design sights such as.. linda barker, laurence llewellyn bowen, 60 minute makeover (a bbc site)
and dulux online (for colour swatches and room scheme ideas)

dont go with trends, instead taylor the room to suit your needs, as although going with the trend looks good but you may tire of it easily and in the end its ur room and you have to live with it.

happy decorating!!
pale pink or pale mauve. (japanese colors)
use a flat matt white on ceiling & walls, with such a bold colour as black & white you need to keep the room as plain as possible because your furniture and materials can be used to enhance the colour scheme and make your room warmer and either romantic or sexy
i`d go with a strong colour just in one area and suttle tones elsewear to create a feature..
Keep it limited and minimalistic.

You want this wall to be the focal piece, so i think its best to not put any colour on the walls. I think a brilliant white would look nice or maybe cream.

Cream will highlight the black and the white design on your wall, and these colours seem to go well together.

Too much colour will make things looks choatic, and will divert your attention away from your main wall.

I hope this helps. Good luck! :) x
