How much does it cost per sq ft to build a house?
Question:I am planning to build a house, just an average house. No huge upgrades or anything like that.
Answers:
It really depends where in the country you live. Different parts of the country require different building styles and materials. For example, if you live in California you'll probably want a design/materials resistant to lots of shaking and earthquakes whereas if you live in Florida you'll want designs and materials resistant to wind and water come hurricane season. It will also depend on if you live in or near a city. Cities, even small ones, will have expensive building permits you will have to acquire. But if you live in the country the permits shouldn't be as expensive. My best advice would be to call three or four building contractors and get estimates for the plot of land you are planning on building on. If you take the average you should get a good ballpark over-estimate (it's an over-estimate because they will have included labor most likely, and I assume you'll be working for free). Also, you'll want to contact a plumber and electrician early on for estimates too, since you'll want to leave the important things to the pros.
Hugely depends on where you live--cost of land (whether you roll that into per sq. ft cost).
In North Texas, a decent house (not great, just shelter) can be built for about $100 per sq. ft. exclusive of land cost.
A really great house? (where we are) $200 per sq. ft.
Good luck.
No one could even give you a ballpark with the info you give. AND each sq ft doesn't cost the same.
You could build an 800 sq foot dome house and have it cost $1,000,000 or build a 12,000 sq ft ranch and have it cost 400,000. You need to rephrase your question and give more details. How many baths? and why not ask the person designing it?
You have not given enough information for anyone to make a reasonable answer. What city do you live in? What's the average home cost in your area? One story house or two? Why are you on FindHomeAnswers asking this instead of calling a contractor?
i just want to know how much is the price to build your house
