Does anyone know how much it costs to have an outlet installed?

Question:I have two outlets (regular two-pronged ones) and one three pronged one, and ALL of them are used and THEN some. I have power strips plugged into power strips, and I'm even using an outlet from the next room! My question is, to have another one "installed" (or whatever word is correct) on the other side of my room, like just another set of 2-pronged ones, how much does that cost for an electrician to come put in? It's all the same room, same line, etc. I just need more outlets! Anyone?

Answers:
hi
depending how many are on that circuit.
Canada max is 8
he might need to run new circuit from the breaker panel
if not he might be able to remove the baseboard and run it behind it at the floor level
this is a rough guess 45 per hour plus service call

Electricians charge by the hour. It depends on where you're located geographically and how 'professional' the electrician is that you hire. Only hire a licensed electrician who is bonded and insured. A good estimated range would be somewhere between $30-70 an hour and most will round up to the next hour, say if it only takes them 1.5 hrs they will charge you for two. My husband is an electrician and he says it depends on how easy it is to add it. Are you wanting to add it on a wall that has an outlet on the other side (in the room behind it)? This is very easy to do and will probably take at most 1-2 hrs. Or will they have to go up in the attic (this will take much longer and cost more? With the way the situation is in your house for outlets I would say it's imperative that you call around because you have a fire waiting to happen. Good luck.
