You could do a bit of extra work with this technique..paint the room either Ivory or Pale gold in a matte color. Paint vertical stripes with the SAME color, but using a semi-gloss or gloss finish. This will give the room an added drama without looking too over-the-top. The light will reflect off the gloss paint and give a nice dimension to the room.
Adding some browns and/or greens as accents to the room will help balance the room out.candles, plates, flowers (or branches), vases, etc.
