Answers:
Either have wood flooring or beige carpet to mimic sand. Is the ceiling blue also? you could paint clouds to mimic sky.
Blue and white always fits for a beach theme. Use shells, nautical accents, artwork that includes either seashore or lighthouses. Making curtains and pillows can add to a room.
If you have a Wal-mart that has a fabric section, look at the $1 a yard fabric. I have made curtains and accessories for my own home as well as for friends. No guilt and you can find out what colors you want to incorporate and change as your ideas change. It is an inexpensive way to experiment or change the look for the seasons.
Check catalogs and magazines to get some examples to show what you would like to do. Parents are less stressed IF they have an idea of what you plan to do.
why are you asking us for advice on YOUR ROOM do what you want it is your room
You could make a wind chime out of seashells to hang by a window.
Maybe a pet fish or two.
Bamboo plants... Really easy to take care of, just keep them in one inch of water.
Maybe a white comforter or light blanket for the top of your bed to make it a crisp and clean feel.
Hope this helps!
I am leery of the beachy vibe, since you will be maturing sooner, I would go more fun and girly to secure the value for my bucks.
Make different stations by putting a big piece of furniture in the middle of the room, attach old doors to make dividers, use a sofa and table behind it to divide into sections like a pc area , dressing area, sitting area, sleeping area. The sofa could be a small sofa during the day and extra sleeping area for friends and family later on.
It will feel more like a small apartment to help prepare you for the real move later on and it will give you more pride to invite company over to enjoy the space.
Use beachy colors and maybe use some fish pillows, etc. + some big sea shells around on some glass tops to show the airiness of the space. Whatever you do, make it fun.
Use seashells as book holders, have wicker furniture, get a vase and a lamp kit and fill it with sand and sea shells...
it looks really pretty, my gramma has one, lol
