What are the rules for what the size of a picture can be on a wall?
Question:I have a horizontal space on my wall. We have a picture that I believe is too big for the space. Are there any do's and don'ts for this type of thing? What's the typical ratio if there is one?
Answers:
There is no rule or formula to the size of paintings. You want your room to look balanced so you wouldn't put a little picture on the middle of the wall over a huge sofa. Why don't you put the painting up and see how you like it? That would be the best and easiest choice. If you don't like it take it down. So you'll have a small hole where the nail was. That's not the end of the world, just plug it up and try another wall.
The graffiti rule.
All I can say is that in the U.S. we don't have those kind of rules.
