How to strip walls completely?
Question:I am removing 20 yo wall paper from a room so I can repaint. Most of the wallpaper came down ok (at least the top layer, and I should be able to use DIF/warm water to remove the backing) but on two walls I'm having a paint problem. There was lime green paint under the paper is that is peeling. How do I deal with this? If it was stuck to the wall like normal paint, I'd just paint over it, but with it peeling, anything I put on top of it will peel too. I could scrape it, but it's coming off in tiny chunks and will likely take me 6 months to get it all this way. Is there a better way to get paint off drywall? Is there a product like DIF? Should I sand it instead? Am I stuck scraping it inch by inch to get it all off?
Answers:
It will take you a while to scrap it all off, but it is the correct way to go. Always do thigs correct the 1st time, or you will have to do it over again...
Start scrapping, and then patch, then PRIME with Kilz.
Good luck
bulldozer will strip them and leave a much more clear appearance, almost transparent
