Should your baseboard molding match your crown molding at the top close to you ceiling?

Question:

Answers:
My baseboards are white to match...

they should match but that not all the time if it brown on the floor and white on the top and it looks fine to you don't worry about it OK .
Not necessarily. If you are talking same shape, style, not at all. If you are talking color or stain, perhaps. What are you trying to accomplish? Do you want the ceiling to look higher than it is? I've painted my ceiling and walls the same color and the crown molding is a gloss white, so is the floor molding. But I have 14 foot ceilings and am not concerned with height. Supposedly if your ceilings are white, and low, if you paint the crown molding white also, it gives the illusion of being higher than they really are. Are your floor moldings stained or painted? I had a lot of stained wood in my old house and passed on the crown molding because I didn't want any more stain and thought the crown molding would look odd painted... just my opinion.
