What are?...?

Question:i just bought my daughter a bed but it says slates sold separately...what are slates?.

Answers:
Slats are usually 2"x4", or 1" x 4", pieces of wood that help keep the box springs and mattress from falling onto the floor. Go to your nearest Home Depot, Lowe's, or your neighborhood hardware Store. Before going make sure you know the width of the inside of the bed where the slats will go or take the bed instructions with you. Most hardware stores will cut the length you need at the store. Hope this helps. Susan

I'm not sure if "slates" is a typo or not. If it isn't a typo I can't answer your question. If it is a typo and you mean "slats", then they are boards, usually made from 1" x 3" or 1" x 4" lumber, that are placed across the bed rails to prevent the box spring and or mattress from falling through to the floor.
