OK planning for our new apartment.the dining area will be in a small section of the living room.?

Question:With a black leather sofa...what type of table should I purchase? Also what colors would look good on the walls?

Answers:
I'm assuming that space is an issue. I love bench seating it can be as casual or as formal as you want it. It doesn't take up as much space as a formal dinning area, and adds seating space.

Then you can do your whole room in a theme you can go casual 50's cafe or something like the Cotton club. If you go for 50's cafe go with black and white checkered pattern, chrome ascents and fun black and white 50 movie star pictures. If you go Cotton club paint with rich reds, use velvets and satins as accent fabrics and art-deco print art on the walls.

If you have a leather couch you can cover the booths in leather to match or use a contrasting color. Then get a round drop leaf table, to save on space

How about a round drop-leaf table-hunter green top, or black marble look. Natural wood will work too. Tablecloths easily transform the table for dining-tie it in with the theme, and, the table can be a work surface between meals.
I would purchase a small dinette set. any color would match good as far as oak or something wooden or glass table an metal chairs if u wanted...white walls or eggshell color would look good on the walls.
