Use a paint sprayer that feeds from paint can?

Question:Planning on painting basement rafters rather than putting up ceiling in basement. Thinking of using a paint sprayer that feeds from can (via tubing/hose) to sprayer. Has anyone used one of these? Did it work well? Any problems with over spray? If so, did you try anything that worked?

Thanks, in advance!

Answers:
If the name on the side of the sprayer is Wagner just toss it in the garbage or return it. Worthless.

Anyway, if you are going to spray, you better tape and plastic up everything. The overspray will follow the wind and get into any nook or cranny it can find. I would suggest rolling or brushing this area, but it will take longer.

Most of the "airless" sprayers work great for the application you mention. There is still some overspray though. Don't skimp on the masking tape and newspaper.
